My First Super-Ex Experience

Posted in Random with tags , , , on August 29, 2010 by Mitch Leuraner

I went to Super-Ex for the first time ever last night.  I’ve been in Ottawa for years, but never really had time.  Growing up in Toronto, I’ve been to the real Ex many, many times, and unfortunately that made this weekend’s visit to the Ottawa iteration sort of a let-down.  Ottawa’s Super-Ex is more like a super-sized midway stop.  But I did see a camel.

This really just speaks for itself.

But you can read about it if you really need to.

Chatroulette remodeling?

Posted in Finds, Random, sex with tags , , , , on August 23, 2010 by Mitch Leuraner

It seems that everyone’s favourite random penis viewer video chat site, Chatroulette, has been taken offline while changes are made.

The site’s spartan video chat page has been replaced with an announcement stating:

The experiment #1 is over now. Thanks for participating. Renewed and updated version of the website will be launched today.

Anybody know what “the experiment #1” actually was?

Bus riders are sheep

Posted in Random, Thoughts with tags , , , , , , , , , on July 27, 2010 by Mitch Leuraner

An $80,000 sculpture by local artists Anna Williams and Erin Robertson is going to be installed at the new Longfields OC Transpo station in Barrhaven.

The installation will consist of four life-sized bronze sheep sculptures herded by a bronze border collie, and a single black sheep mingling with commuters on the platform.

I’m all for public art, and I have even come to terms with the cost of the installation – which incidentally would pay for my monthly bus pass, at current rates, for more than 80 years.

What I am less enthusiastic about is the insinuation that bus riders are like sheep.  Sure, we are herded like tiny cattle every morning on the way to work, but do they have to make it so explicit?

And what about that lone black sheep? Why is it that the one individual, off on its own, refusing to be herded, is the black sheep? Everyone knows the connotation of the black sheep.  Is that really the message we want to portray here?

This world isn’t ready for Twitter

Sometimes, the internet just makes me want to delete all my posts and log-off.  But for some reason I can’t.  Instead, I friend/follow/RSS the content instead. It’s very disconcerting.

Case in point: I came across something terrible on Twitter today.  This user actually embodies everything that is wrong with the internet:

  1. Fake Identity
  2. Impersonation
  3. Frivolous Content
  4. Sporadic Updates
  5. Politics
  6. Kitten Anthropomorphism

Yes, those are the worst things about the internet, and no I did not forget porn.

It’s too hot to blog

Posted in Random, Thoughts with tags , , , , , on July 7, 2010 by Mitch Leuraner

I don’t like heat.  It makes me irritable and extremely impatient.  Worst of all, it makes my very – very – lazy.  I simply don’t want to do anything. Not even write.

Too high and mighty to share an umbrella?

Posted in Finds, Random with tags , , , , , on June 28, 2010 by Mitch Leuraner

The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh begin their nine-day tour Photo: GETTY Source:

I noticed that in all of the news footage of her visit to Halifax today, the Queen walked under her crazy umbrella while Michaelle Jean, our Governor General, had to walk in the rain.

I know that she is the Queen, so she doesn’t have to share her umbrella… but it would have been nice.

The T-Shirt Dress

Gwyneth Paltrow in Wes Anderson's The Royal Tenenbaums

I have unilaterally decided that the t-shirt dress needs to make a comeback.  Why?  It probably has something to do with the fact that I recently watched The Royal Tenenbaumsbut that’s not the point.  The t-shirt dress is simple and sexy.  Especially the striped variety. (Eyeliner is optional, but appreciated.)

How did I miss the earthquake?

Posted in Random, Thoughts with tags , , , , on June 23, 2010 by Mitch Leuraner

So apparently there was an earthquake today (hit the link for a funny video).  Strangely, I know this only because CBC ran a ticker-tape with the news during it’s afternoon showing of the Germany vs. Ghana match.  Somehow, despite being in Centretown all day, I didn’t feel a thing!  I’m not sure if I should feel lucky, or ripped-off!
